Geopac offers solutions for ground improvement that can be attractive alternatives to deep (pile) foundations. Our versatile range of technologies include Controlled Modulus Columns™, Bi-Moduli Column, Rapid Impact Compaction, Dynamic Compaction™, Dynamic Replacement™, Menard Vacuum™ Consolidation, Vibrocompaction, Vibro Concrete Columns, Vibro Stone Columns, Soil Mixing, Compaction Grouting and Wick Drains.
Geopac evaluates the site and improvement criteria to select the most appropriate ground improvement method.
Ground Improvement without additional material:
For granular soils (sand, gravel), densification is primarily achieved by means of vibration. For cohesive soils (clay, silt), consolidation by pre-loading (constructing an embankment surcharge or applying a vacuum) can be significantly accelerated through the use of a drainage system.
Ground Improvement with additional materials:
These techniques consist of making flexible, rigid or semi-rigid vertical inclusions (columns) in compressible soil layers. These inclusions are laid out following a regular surface grid. The inclusion material is either dry and cohesionless (stone columns and dynamic replacement pillars) or grout based (controlled modulus columns, compaction grouting and vibro concrete columns). The resulting soil layer behaves like a composite material with improved characteristics.
