The Belle Plaine Spur Rail Line is a facility and rail line expansion completed for Canadian Pacific in Belle Plaine, Saskatchewan. This project is a part of a larger overall construction plan to build a Canadian Pacific rail line to service the K+S Legacy potash mine northeast of Moose Jaw, SK. The vertical wick drain ground improvement work was required to provide drainage for the rail way embankment foundations as well as for the foundations for the auxiliary drainage structure

Menard Canada installed more than 375,000 linear meters of vertical wick drains over an area of 50,000 m² with installation depths varying between 20 and 22 meters on a pre-determined grid spacing. The value engineering Wick Drain soil improvement solution proposed and delivered by Menard Canada resulted in a cost-effective & reliable ground improvement method appropriate to the project goals and prevailing site conditions
